Veo has partnered with ClearPay to enable more people access to sustainable products.
We are committed to responsible spending.
Clearpay was created as a tool to help people make the most of their money and manage their spending responsibly. This aligns with our Veo mission— to empower our customers.
We understand that sometimes sustainable or ethical products have a higher price than equivalents that don’t have the same equity or ethics in their supply chains. So having a way to spread the cost of your purchases across multiple payments, interest free, is a way to increase access to sustainable products and goods for more people. Epowerment for us means that customers are always in control of their spending, and to help ensure our customers keep that control.
We also understand that your circumstances can change and that you may need support. That’s why we chose to partner with ClearPay, who have had a financial hardship policy from the beginning. And especially now, with the pandemic and other difficulties, we want you to know that we are here to help you with flexible options. If you ever need our support with regards to hardship, please get in touch.
When Which? investigated claims that 'buy now, pay later' schemes have impacted shoppers' credit ratings, ClearPay confirmed that:
while it can report on people’s credit files, it has not done so during the four years it has been operating.
Additionally, a Clearpay spokesperson confirmed in a statement:
Clearpay has never enforced a debt through enforcement agents or bailiffs... [we] do not report to credit rating agencies and we never share customer information with aggressive doorstep collectors.
To keep us focused on this mission of empowering customers, ClearPay has 4 guiding principles:
- Take it slow -
Clearpay takes time to get to know our customers before enabling them to spend more. Sensible initial spending limits are set that increase gradually over time, and ensure our customer’s ability to repay on time.
- Keep Clearpay free -
There is never any interest or extra charges if payments are made on time. What you see is what you get.
- Late payments are bad business -
Clearpay will only charge a late fee if customers miss a payment. But first, we will do everything we can to help customers avoid this.
- Happy customers make even more happy customers -
Everybody wins when customers have a great experience. A big part of that is being committed to responsible spending and keeping our product simple, honest and transparent.
