I'm not sure if you've ever managed to venture East? More East than Harwich of course.

The Gateway to the East, Istanbul has always eluded my travels until the day Steve Jobs died. The two events are wholly unrelated btw, it's just one of those dates that sticks in the noggin. In fact that whole trip was a first for me, but that's a story for another time.

Istanbul, a guarded city. There is a air of freedom that so thinly layered it can evaporate in a matter of moments. Foreigners have nearly always been granted many freedoms in the city but you do wonder to what cost.

Culture percolates from every footstep and every doorway. It's easy to get lost in it's vibrance and energy.
